As we stood before the Buddha at Angkor Wat, my guide Yoko told me its story: a Buddha who has "stood the test of time.” Through centuries of war, the stone around it was peppered with bullet holes, yet the Buddha itself was untouched. "God,” was Yoko’s only explanation. PROTECTED is about the grace that shields what is sacred. These images are the closest I've ever come to translating a spiritual experience into physical form.
